JCGC Ready to Break Ground on New Cemetery

NOI-Map_800x509JCGC is preparing to break ground on its new cemetery site at 712 Loveland–Miamiville Road in Loveland.

JCGC purchased this 23-acre property in December 2011, to develop as a community cemetery. The site is a convenient location in a good neighborhood, about a mile from the Ward’s Corner exit off I–275. It is less than 10 minutes from Weil Funeral Home and 20 minutes from Amberley Village. The property will provide 100 years of burials, so the Cincinnati Jewish community will not have to make another property purchase for several generations.

The Ritual Coordination Committee, consisting of many of the congregational rabbis, met in 2013 and agreed on the division of 15 acres in the front of the property into Reform, Conservative and Orthodox sections. The remaining eight acres are available for future development and also include a residence where Bill and Nancy Kahn currently live. As many of our readers know, Bill sells gravesites for JCGC and also works for Weil Funeral Home, so he and Nancy are the perfect tenants.

This past winter construction drawings were completed and JCGC is in the process of obtaining permits and various county and township approvals. We expect to start construction of the roads and utilities this summer. After the construction is complete, the next step will be to lay out the initial sections so that we are ready to start selling lots in late 2016/early 2017.
