Ritual
The JCGC Code of Regulations affirms that the status quo will be maintained with respect to all halachic rules and rituals observed in the cemeteries at the time they merged into JCGC. The ritual governance of all cemeteries owned or operated by JCGC will be overseen by a Ritual Coordination Committee comprised primarily of rabbis in the community. There will be three subcommittees, Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox, with each subcommittee overseeing the halacha (religious laws) that will prevail in the Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox cemeteries (or sections), respectively. The Rules and Regulations are considered the general rules of JCGC cemeteries. The sections below include additional halachic rules and rituals that apply to JCGC’s Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox cemeteries, respectively.
