Photo and Art Competition

Photo and Art Competition

In celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the Cincinnati Jewish community, Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati (JCGC) is announcing a Photo and Art Competition especially for Jewish students in our community, but all are welcome.  Students from 7th grade through high school are encouraged to submit photographic images or other visual art forms (e.g., painting, computer generated graphics, 3 dimensional art, etc.).  Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and works displayed at a prominent gallery in the Cincinnati area.  Prizes will be awarded.

We ask all participants to give the utmost respect to our cemeteries.  They are sacred spaces.

Photographic images or other visual forms should be inspired by any or all of the 25 Jewish cemeteries under management by JCGC.  For locations please visit our website: Our Cemeteries

Possible themes could include (but are not limited to) historical markers, funereal art (marker designs, artistic inscriptions), cemetery landscape or structures of interest, seasonal changes, community settings, synagogue/temple cemetery association.

  • Single images or a portfolio of thematic images (up to 6) can be submitted.
  • The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2022.   Winners will be announced by July 15.
  • Upload to the Submission Form button below. Students should title their submission and fill out the description as well (e.g., location, theme, basis of interest, etc.).
  • Each entry should be submitted as an electronic file (jpg, png) no larger than 10mb. For final selected images, a higher resolution file will need to be provided later.
  • Three Dimensional art will need to be photographed for initial entry.

Direct any questions to info@jcemcin.org with the subject line, “I’m interested in the Photo and Art Competition.”
